Concrete Cancer Repair around Docklands

The City's permit application must be lodged at least 10 business days before the works, and the structure must be inspected by a structural engineer after it is installed and recertified every six months it stays up. The space occupation fee is A$2.60 per square metre per day, or part of a day; the City's pages give two different application fees for the scaffold permit, so none is stated here.

The City of Melbourne's asset protection fee is banded by the value of the works given with the building permit, from A$371.20 to A$1,391.40. If your building is in or near Southbank, check with the Council which area your address is in before assuming any council's name.

Permits and City of Melbourne rules

Whether a repair needs a building permit is for a building surveyor to say: an alteration is exempt only if it will not adversely affect the structural soundness of the building and does not remove or alter a supporting element, and the building is not heritage-listed. Scaffold or a hoarding over the street alignment needs the council's report and consent, and a permit from the council.
